See Ya Rusty Old Antenna

The TV antenna went to it's almost final resting spot at the town DPW today. Here it is cut into a couple of pieces lying atop a fence.
It makes me nostalgic.
I used to work in television (local news) and heard a lot of stories from the old timers about the good old days when they had to lug around armfuls of camera equipment and process film fast enough to get it dry and threaded on the reels so that the news of the day could be broadcast throughout the land.
I've even had the privilege to work at a predecessor to digital broadcast. When the station started tape was still digitized before it was edited and digital signal was still a broadcast dream. Of course the glitches were always hilarious too. It never failed that the computer sending out the feed would freeze on the news anchors most unflattering facial expression.
One of my favorite memories of broadcast television is sitting with my Mama (grandma) in her living room on the farm, watching her watch the Lawrence Welk show on the black and white television. Mama had glaucoma and though she couldn't see much she would always sing along and dance in her chair.
