New Job Title
This weekend I added the job title of DeClutterer to my list of hats.
The drive down was slow but we made it to our "appointment" at the Pentagon. My cousin-in-law works for the DIA (Defense Intelligence Agency) and he was gracious enough to give us a quick tour. There is a two month waiting list to get a formal tour of the Pentagon. It took me a couple of phone calls to "schedule the appointment."
It was interesting to walk around and have him share the lingo of the land. We wandered by the Sec Defs Office and saw some highly decorated officers on the way to a meeting. We paid our respects at the 9-11 memorial and continued the wanderings by many doors with multiple keypads. Cousin Ed slipped us a couple of Pentagon medallian souveniers as we checked out through security.
After the tour we went with our Aunt to an Italian restaurant and ate al fresco. It was a lovely and leisurely dinner. The weather was perfect.
Saturday the DeCluttering gloves were donned and we worked from 9 am until 10 pm. She had about 3 apartments worth of cookware and other sundries in the spare room of her condo. Traffic from her curious neighbors was high. Everyone was wondering if she was moving out.
Three truck loads went to goodwill.
The maintenance man was kept busy emptying the trash room down the hall. Countless trips were made throwing out old stuff.
Sunday was spent taking some more books down to the goodwill and cleaning.
It was tiring but fulfilling. We were able to tackle a huge job together and succeeded in reclaiming some much needed space.
